The music of BlackFace Family might appear as eclectic, but from elements of hip-hop, dancehall, reggae, rnb, afropop, kwaito-house and many others, the group formed the very local style, named as kukaningina’ako (which means from the Kaningina mountain).

Twiggy, the music creator, is known as most recognised producer of the Malawian North. In BFF he cooperates with his two brothers - Jah Face and Sparrow, who along with Kritique are vocalists, mixing the deeply Malawian love to vocal polyphonic harmonies with african stylisations in rap and raga. Lyrics sung in blended english, chiTumbuka and chiChewa portraits the world and life of young people from Mzuzu.

The graphic design has a special role in the project. The first prototype was brought by the band and the final version was designed by polish-vietnamese artists Thuy Duong ’Sara’ Dang with little contribution of Piotr Dang Cichocki, who also remastered and curated the series.
